In life we take different sides all the time,Coke or Pepsi, wheat or white, caffeinated or decaffeinated, and today we will examine choices again; mall shopping or online shopping
Let me set the scene: It’s a frigid 27 degrees when you brave the elements to go Christmas shopping for that special someone in your life. You pull into the congested parking lot of the neighborhood mall. You race to get that one open handicapped parking spot, and you find yourself in a grudge match with someone in a Red Ferrari, who is wearing the look of health from head to toe.( I know that healthy looking people use the handicapped parking all the time , because their disabilities aren't visible like mine. But I must be honest, on a bad day, it pisses me off!)
Cut…let’s change the scene. It is a cold, frosty night and the wind is howling through the barren trees. You are squeaky clean from your hot shower, and you have on the most snuggly pair of pajamas ever made. You are curled up in a comfortable chair like an ever so sleepy, chubby cat. With a hot beverage in your favorite mug you slowly open your laptop and begin shopping.
Well, I know which scene I’d pick, and it’s online, baby.
I do like to shop at the mall every once in a while, but if I’m having a bad leg day, well, staying indoors sounds so much better than falling on my butt in front of hundreds of holiday shoppers. So I’m going to give you some reasons why online shopping rules.
1. Choice and Variety-With the World Wide Web you can go anywhere you want to shop, without ever leaving your comfortable chair. No longer are you bound to 64 stores and the greasy smelling food court at the mall. You can go anywhere to shop. You can get cheese from Wisconsin, cacti from Arizona, or a coonskin cap from the Alamo. The world is your oyster…and you could get oysters from Maine, if you so desire.
2. Price- With the availability of every store at your eager fingertips, you can search for gifts that will fit your budget. From economical to nauseatingly extravagant, the web has it all.
3. Disability Quotient- Online shopping works very well for those of us with a disability. As I said earlier, some days it just isn’t happening for my legs or my balance. On those days I can use my laptop and participate in capitalism, like anyone else.(Provided I have a credit card in hand) And for that I am thankful!
There you have it. Just a few of the reasons whyI love online shopping!
