September is "National Self Improvement Month." Wow!!!!!! Just reading the words evokes feelings of exhaustion and overall failure. We live in a world where self-improvement has become nothing more than a catch phrase , ex: infomercials and podcasts, or written, ex: books, books and more books!
Maybe the concept of self improvement has been so overused that we shut down when we hear it. Hearing those words can make you want to...........
My personal take on self-improvement is that we start out doing too much to improve ourselves, get exhausted and overwhelmed and then give up. Sound familar? So why don't we begin to look at improvement in a smaller, more manageable size. If we work on only one thing at a time there is a chance we will stick with it. If we set our goals to a more realistic time frame we just might have success.
Self- improvement is a personal decision. Everyone has something they need to work on and it isn't always fitness oriented. Some might need to work on their relationships with others, time management skills, organization skills and the list goes on and on.
So for"National Self- Improvement Month" let's work on just one thing that will enrich our lives for the better.
My goal is to walk as much as I can without a cane. What can I say, it's a work in progress!
What are your self improvement goals?
